When it comes to ranking the best of the best in the NFL, there is usually tons of disagreement among pundits and experts. Rarely do you ever see consensus. But when it comes to the top edge rusher in the NFL, experts agree none compare to Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt.

Both ESPN and Touchdown Wire did their respective rankings for edge rushers and both have Watt on top ahead of Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett.

TD Wire not only praised Watt’s ability to sack the quarterback but also noted how underrated Watt is as a run defender. Here’s what they had to say about it:

Watt brings a wide array of tools to the table as a pass rusher. But do not sleep on what he offers against the run. Sure, sacks move the needle, particularly when it comes to post-season awards and lists such as this one, but Watt is also a force on the edge for the Steelers’ run defense.

Watt tied the single-season sack record with 22.5 sacks in 2021. He also earned his first of what should be many Defensive Player of the Year awards.
