Steelers LB T.J. Watt voted team MVP

T.J. Watt has been Steelers MVP four times in the last five seasons.

On Tuesday it was announced that the Pittsburgh Steelers players had voted outside linebacker T.J. Watt as team MVP for the 2023 season. This is the fourth time in the last five seasons to win the award with only safety Minkah Fitzpatrick breaking his streak in 2022.

“Any time my peers see the amount of work that I’m putting in and show that they have respect for what I’m trying to do, it’s super gratifying,” Watt said.

Watt currently leads the NFL with 17 sacks. His influence on this Steelers defense is impossible to overvalue. With so many injuries the defense has had to deal with this season, Watt’s value is magnified as he has held this unit together.

The Steelers finish up the season this Saturday against the Baltimore Ravens with a spot in playoffs on the line. Pittsburgh is going to need Watt to have his best game yet if they hope to beat the best team in the NFL.
