There’s no denying the Pittsburgh Steelers defense has underperformed this season. Considering this is the highest-paid group in the NFL, being ranked sixth in points allowed and eleventh in yards allowed isn’t what the Steelers expected. Especially in recent weeks when the defense has been banged up and not pulling its weight.
The big splash signing of the offseason for this defense was former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen. It took some time for Queen to find his stride with the Steelers but now that he’s playing better, he talks about the struggles the defense has gone through the past two weeks.
“Got to have a sense of urgency, especially with this type of game,” Queen said. “All the stuff that’s riding on this game and then just getting into the back half of the season, postseason, this is when you’re supposed to be taking off as a defense, not falling back.”

Queen currently leads the Steelers with 117 total tackles but it’s issues with tackling that has really hurt Pittsburgh the last two games. Missed tackles and other unforced errors on defense have exposed a banged-up unit and done no favors to an offense minus wide receiver George Pickens.
