On Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers announced outside linebacker Alex Highsmith has been named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 10. Highsmith had two sacks, five tackles, one forced fumble, one quarterback hurry and one tackle for loss.
Highsmith had his best game of the year since his three-sack performance in Week One against the Cincinnati Bengals. No player benefits more from the presence of T.J. Watt than Highsmith. Watt’s return allowed Highsmith the opportunity to get more one-on-one matchups and he took clear advantage.
On the season, Highsmith has 38 tackles and 8.5 sacks to lead the team. He also has eight tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and 10 quarterback hits.
