At this point, you are going to see a definite trend with it comes to 2021 NFL mock drafts for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Everyone who saw any of those last six games understands just how much help Pittsburgh needs along the offensive line. This problem is compounded with the free-agency decisions the Steelers will need to make.
NFL Network’s own Daniel Jeremiah put out a new one-round mock draft and he gave the Steelers Oklahoma State offensive tackle Teven Jenkins. Here’s what Jeremiah had to say about Jenkins as the pick.
The Steelers’ inability to run the football last season was a major problem. They could take a runner here — I love North Carolina’s Javonte Williams and Alabama’s Najee Harris — but I think they will address the offensive line instead. Jenkins plays with an edge (see what he did against Texas) and would provide some youth/athleticism to Pittsburgh’s aging group.
If the goal is to bring the Steelers run game back to life, this is the way to do it. It doesn’t matter who Pittsburgh drafts at running back, getting the offensive line in order is far more important. This doesn’t mean the Steelers shouldn’t draft a running back. If James Conner leaves it would definitely make it a higher priority than some other positions like edge rusher or tight end.
