Steelers land in Top 10 of TD Wire’s new power rankings

Pittsburgh has rebuilt its roster and looks like a contender in the AFC.

There is little debate that the AFC is stronger than the NFC this season. That doesn’t bode well for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The roster has been rebuilt at multiple positions and this is a team with more depth than we’ve seen in years.

This is in addition to the huge improvement we’ve seen in second-year quarterback Kenny Pickett. These improvements haven’t been missed by Jarrett Bailey at Touchdown Wire. He has the Steelers at No. 8 in their latest power rankings and sixth-best team in the AFC.

Five drives. Five touchdowns. That’s what Kenny Pickett and the Steelers’ starters did in the preseason. Much like the Washington Commanders, I seem to be higher on the Steelers than the general consensus, which is fine. I like my odds betting on Mike Tomlin, a top five defense, an offense with a ton of young talent, and a franchise who hasn’t had a losing season since Bush’s first term.

The only NFC teams ranked higher than the Steelers Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers. Ironically, the Steelers square off with the Niners this week in Pittsburgh.
