Everyone is ready for football. Whether it is college or the NFL, it is time to start thinking about the upcoming seasons. This means beginning the process of scouting the best NFL draft prospects for 2021. The Pro Football Network put out a new two-round mock draft for next year and it is a great way to get a jump on who the top prospects are for next season as well as break down the picks for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
You can read the full draft here.
In the first round they have the Steelers drafting Georgia quarterback Jamie Newman. Newman is a fascinating prospect as a graduate transfer from Wake Forest. His athleticism is off the charts and in the Georgia offense he could flourish. If he makes the leap many draft pundits expect, he could be the perfect replacement for Ben Roethlisberger.
Moving to the second round, the Steelers go back to the Bulldogs for cornerback Eric Stokes. Stokes is a pure boundary cornerback who checks all the boxes for size and athleticism. Drafting Stokes means something is going wrong with the cornerback depth chart like losing Joe Haden. Looking at how the draft played out, Virginia EDGE Charles Snowden would be an interesting choice to bolster depth on the outside if Bud Dupree leaves.
Overall, any draft that could potentially yield a franchise quarterback is a good one. Pittsburgh cannot overlook quarterback next season they way they have this season.
