Athleticism at quarterback is seriously lacking at the quarterback position in Pittsburgh.

There was a time when Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was thought of as sneaky athletic and has some underrated athleticism. However, those days are long gone. Head coach Mike Tomlin spoke to the media on Tuesday and talked about how this related to the Steelers and going for it on 4th down.

Tomlin indicated that many teams who are going for it more on fourth down and having success are those who also happen to have quarterbacks who are more mobile. This just isn’t the case for the Steelers, who are struggling on fourth down and easily have the least-mobile quarterback in the AFC North. Maybe in the entire NFL.

This does open up the conversation about the Steelers quarterback position going forward. Assuming the Steelers move on from Roethlisberger at the end of the season, should the team factor athleticism into their quarterback evaluation more heavily going forward? Let us know in the comments.
