Last week the Pittsburgh Steelers got a disappointing performance out of quarterback Justin Fields against the Dallas Cowboys. This, combined with the continuing improvement in health of quarterback Russell Wilson and the Steelers have themselves a good old fashioned quarterback controversy.
When head coach Mike Tomlin talked to the media on Tuesday, he didn’t do anything to diffuse the drama or offer any sort of clarity on the situation.
According to Tomlin, the “door is ajar” for Wilson this week as he continues to work his way back from the calf strain that seems to never want to go away.
The Steelers are currently on a two-game losing streak so this would be the perfect chance to get Wilson into the lineup assuming he is 100 percent. With this offense and the play of this offensive line, Wilson is going to need to be willing and able to use his legs to keep drives alive.
