Steelers GM Kevin Colbert thinks Ben Roethlisberger can come back better than before

Kevin Colbert was very optimistic about the return of Ben Roethlisberger.

On Tuesday, Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert spoke to the media at the NFL Scouting Combine. He covered the usual subjects including the recovery of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Colbert was seriously optimistic when talking about Roethlisberger and his elbow surgery, even hinting he thinks Big Ben could come back better than before.

I’m not worried about the surgery because it might be a better result,” Colbert said. “The possibility is real he could be a better football player coming out of this surgery. I’m encouraged and excited where he can go.”

That’s a really bold statement. Better than before? Roethlisberger suffered his injury less than two games into 2019, coming off his best year as a pro. I’m good if Roethlisberger can just get back to his 2018 form with this defense, Pittsburgh is going to be a Super Bowl contender.
