It took long enough but the Pittsburgh Steelers finally addressed the defensive secondary in the seventh round. Pittsburgh chose former Oklahoma defensive back Tre Norwood with the No. 245 pick overall.

Norwood was used all over the secondary during his time at Oklahoma. He’s shown he is capable of lining up as an outside cornerback as well as in the slot as well as at safety. Norwood isn’t afraid to mix it up in run support but it is definitely the area where he struggles the most. Norwood does a nice job finding the football in the air and plays fast.

In terms of fit, Norwood could be a player the Steelers are looking at to split time with James Pierre as the team’s inside cornerback if he can prove to be capable of blitzing and improves in run support.
