The Pittsburgh Steelers have spent much of the offseason looking for a backup long snapper with no success. Maybe the latest player in for a tryout will be the one that sticks. According to WPXI, Pittsburgh is bringing in former XFL long snapper Rex Sunahara for a workout.
Sunahara is known to the Steelers. He spent some time on the roster back in 2021 as an insurance policy at long snapper when COVID was making its way around the league and teams had to be ready to swap out players on a moment’s notice.
This is the third long snapper the Steelers have tried to bring in this offseason. Pittsburgh also worked out veteran tight end Nick Boyle who is trying a position switch as well as Antonio Ortiz. Sunahara played for the San Antonio Brahamas, who is coached by former Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward.
The Steelers will host former Dolphins and XFL long snapper Rex Sunahara on a tryout, the official XFL account announced. https://t.co/3h0eIvKOQ2
