The best and most consistent defensive player on the Pittsburgh Steelers this season not named T.J. Watt has been cornerback Mike Hilton. Technically not a starter, Hilton is the do-it-all defensive back Pittsburgh relies on to stuff the run, drop into coverage and blitz.

His effort and talent were rewarded this week as Hilton was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Hilton finished the game with somewhat modest stats. Four tackles in total but he also had a fumble recovery, two passes defended and the interception that sealed the win for Pittsburgh over the Indianapolis Colts.

Hilton is set to hit free agency at the end of the season and with the way he’s played this season as well as the last two, he is sure to cash in big. When this defense needed a spark, it is typically Hilton or Watt to provide it and he shows no fear in whatever the coaches ask him to do.
