The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Sunday they have release eight players in order to trim their roster down to the required 80 for this new COVID-inspired training camp.

Here are the players released.

QB J.T. Barrett

RB Ralph Webb

WR Quadree Henderson

OL Christian Montano

LB Christian Kuntz

LB Dwayne Hendrix

S Tyree Kinnel

DE Josiah Coatney

With so much uncertainty about the NFL season as well as players being moved to the reserve/COVID list, keeping up with who is on the team and who isn’t will be a struggle until the season gets started.

The one surprise name on this list is Barrett. I assumed that despite the roster restrictions, the team will still carry five arms into camp. Especially with Ben Roethlisberger on the mend. But releasing Barrett will let the coaches see exactly what they have between Devlin Hodges and Paxton Lynch for the No. 3 quarterback spot.
