On Monday, the Pittsburgh Steelers announced their three team captains for the 2021 season. The offensive team captain will once again be quarterback Ben Roethlisberger who returns for what may be his final season. This is Big Ben’s 13th time as captain.
The defensive team captain is defensive tackle Cam Heyward. Heyward has been the undisputed leader of this stout Steelers defense for many years and his inclusion is no surprise. This is Heyward’s seventh straight nomination.
Finally, we have the special teams captain, fullback Derek Watt. Watt doesn’t see a lot of action on offense in a modern NFL offense but is a leader on the coverage and return teams. This is Watt’s first time as a team captain.
