The Steelers started the padded practice phase of 2020 training camp on Monday with three starters injured.
In an opening statement to the media, Mike Tomlin shared that guard David DeCastro, wide receiver James Washington and defensive lineman Chris Wormley are each dealing with “minor ailments” and can be considered “day to day”.
“[We] fully expect all three of those guys to be full participants here in a short number of days,” Tomlin said in a post-practice press conference. “But we did actually kind of exercise that precaution today.”
Though Tomlin did not get into detail, he also noted that center Maurkice Pouncey was excused from training camp for personal reasons.
In the grand scheme on things, this isn’t a big concern. Injuries happen in camp all the time. Better now than later.
