Stats prove Bryce Young is still the best player in college football

Bryce Young is even more efficient in 2022 than he was in his Heisman Trophy season

It is no secret from the rest of the college football world that [autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag] is simply special. The Crimson Tide starting quarterback is next in the lineage of great quarterbacks to go through Tuscaloosa, joining NFL starters Jalen Hurts, Tua Tagovailoa and Mac Jones. However, some would argue that Young is the most talented of the bunch.

Young exploded onto the scene as a sophomore in 2021 before leading the Crimson Tide to a national championship appearance and earning several awards including the Heisman Trophy.

In the updated 2022 Heisman odds, Young sits just outside the top three, but it is unlikely that Young will win the award in back-to-back seasons because he has missed time due to injury, there is voter fatigue with Alabama and Young isn’t getting much help from his wide receivers.

Young’s stats are comparable to last season. He is actually even more efficient with less consistency around him. Losing John Metchie and Jameson Williams to the NFL draft hurt, but if Alabama wants to make some noise toward the end of the regular season Bryce is going to need some help.

The reigning Heisman winner is constantly in third-and-long situations, forced to find ways to keep drives alive. Young isn’t like Mac or Tua, who could afford to sit in the pocket all day and pick their target, he has to extend plays because of a weaker offensive line protecting for him.

Young seems to understand the game of football better than most collegiate players, and despite his height concerns, Young’s game will likely easily translate to the NFL. He just makes everything look easy.
