The state of Oklahoma may not be a sign of what is to come, but it is reassurance that it can be a possibility for sports.

It may not be a sign of what is to come, but it is reassurance that it can be a possibility.

The state of Oklahoma, like many states in the United States, has been in a shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic sweeping across the world.

Oklahoma’s governor began to reopen the state on May. 1 with strict guidelines in how businesses were to be run, interaction that can take place and the safety guidelines that must be followed. None of the phase one items consisted of sports, but that is set to change.

Governor Kevin Stitt announced on Monday that the state of Oklahoma is ready to enter phase two of the reopening plan the state is currently conducting. Amongst things that can be brought back on May 15 is “organized sports activities can reopen and operate under proper social distancing and sanitation protocols”.

The University of Oklahoma allowed operating staff to return to campus on Monday to begin getting ready for the fall semester. Tuesday night, NCAA president Mark Emmert said the football season will be dictated by how states and schools want to move forward.

Based on what the state of Oklahoma and the University of Oklahoma is doing, organized activities for football season will be allowed by both fronts when the time is appropriate in the phases.

The Sooners won’t be ones who will be left on the sidelines due to the coronavirus.
