Starfield dev diary explains factions, worlds, and character creation

Bethesda reveals more about the highly-anticipated RPG.

Unlikely though it may seem, Starfield is coming out this year. As a (gentle) reminder of that fact, Bethesda’s new developer diary elaborates on the game’s rich universe.

Made for Wanderers, the latest episode in Starfield’s developer diary series, details various space-faring factions and how players will interact with NPCs. The session has design director Emil Pagilarulo, lead quest designer Will Shen, and game director Todd Howard (AKA the man behind Skyrim). This episode shows off a tiny bit of in-engine gameplay footage like past Starfield developer diaries. Blink, and you’ll miss it, though.

It’s not much, but Bethesda did clarify that we won’t see much from Starfield until this summer. As with Fallout 4 and Skyrim, the company likely won’t show the game off until release is a few months out. Honestly, this isn’t that long of a wait since Starfield is coming out on Nov. 11, 2022, for Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Starfield will be Bethesda’s first exclusive title for Xbox since the two are now under Microsoft’s banner. Many fans wonder if Elder Scrolls 6 will make it on PS5, and Xbox head Phil Spencer hinted it won’t.
