The Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball team fell to 1-1 on the season after an 82-64 loss to the Stanford Cardinal in the Maui Invitational quarterfinals.
In a game that truly never felt close, Alabama struggled in every facet of the game.
The Crimson Tide shot just 35.8 percent from the field, connecting on 24 of their 67 field-goal attempts. Alabama was even worse beyond the arc, hitting just seven of 29 attempts.
To make matters worse, Alabama’s defense wasn’t good either.
Stanford shot 51.7 percent from the field and an outstanding 53 percent from three-point range. The Cardinal also outrebounded the Crimson Tide 48-31.
Sophomore guard Jahvon Quinerly led the Tide with 14 points and was six of 11 from the field.
Jaden Shackelford chipped in 10 with points; however, he struggled from the field, making just three of his 13 field-goal attempts.
After the loss, Alabama now moves to the bracket’s consolation side, where it will face UNLV on Tuesday, which was blown out by North Carolina.
