On Saturday night, the Alabama Crimson Tide will welcome the Georgia Bulldogs to Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium for what is the biggest college football matchup of the 2024 season so far.
A pair of top five teams, Alabama and Georgia are certainly no strangers to each other, as the two programs have met in some of college football’s top games across the last decade-plus. With many of those matchups having been for both SEC and national championships, the Crimson Tide and Bulldogs are set to write the next chapter of their rivalry Saturday night in Tuscaloosa.
Here are our Roll Tide Wire staff predictions for the Week 5 game between Alabama and Georgia:
Matt’s Prediction – Alabama 27, Georgia 24
Alabama and Georgia have played some classics over the last decade-plus, and this meeting should be no different as this version of the head-to-head series should be close once again. However, this game is being played in Tuscaloosa, and because of that, the pick goes to the Crimson Tide to come away with a close victory with home field playing an advantage.
Brody’s Prediction – Alabama 31, Georgia 21
All eyes will be on Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Saturday night. The No. 2-ranked Georgia Bulldogs will make the trek from Athens to take on the No. 4-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. The Bulldogs are coming off of a lackluster performance two weeks ago against Kentucky. As for the Crimson Tide, they had their way with Wisconsin. Georgia will have their best defensive lineman in Mykel Williams back from injury. However, there starting center Tate Ratledge will be out with injury. Alabama’s defensive line has become a strong suit in recent weeks. The offensive line has shown signs of improvement. Games like this are won in the trenches. I believe that Alabama has the upper hand. For that reason, I like Alabama to win.
Sam’s Prediction – Alabama 27, Georgia 24
Despite being home town underdogs for the first time in 17 years, I really like what I have seen from this Alabama team so far this year. I think Jalen Milroe is much improved from the SECCG and will be a huge problem for the UGA defense. Tuscaloosa is going to be rocking, and with some injuries it will be interesting to see how the Dawgs play.
