North Carolina ended their losing streak last week by dominating Virginia on the road. With the Tar Heels back in the win column, they are looking to build a winning streak.
Next up? A road game against Florida State, a team that has really struggled this season. The Tar Heels are the favorites in this game and getting a win here would really help their bowl chances.
With a new week here, let’s look at our staff predictions for the game.
Zack Pearson
Prediction: UNC 27, Florida State 20
Record: 5-3
UNC finally proved me wrong and I will gladly say I’m wrong and own up to it. Can they make it two wins in a row? I think so. As bad as UNC has been at times this season, Florida State has been even worse.
The Seminoles are the biggest disappointment in all of college football and this is a good chance for UNC to take advantage and get another win. I think they do just that.
Aidan Jensen
Prediction: UNC 31, Florida State 17
Record: 7-1
UNC is fired up from a dominating win at Virginia last week, showing how well it can play when fully healthy. The Tar Heels come into Tallahassee, which is normally one of the toughest places to play, but Florida State is amongst the worst schools in the Power 4 this year. FSU has the ACC’s worst offense and, while North Carolina’s defense isn’t great, it’ll look to build on a 10-sack performance. The Tar Heels will score at least three touchdowns, but their defense will decide this one again.
Matthew Beighle
Prediction: UNC 24, Florida State 17
Record: 4-4
North Carolina proved my last week’s prediction wrong. I was done picking the Tar Heels, after their current losing streak and inability to finish a game or keep a lead, to win until they proved me wrong. They proved me wrong. I considered siding with Florida State here and the fact that Uiagalelei is unable to play is almost a benefactor for FSU with the way he is playing. However, I see Kaimon Rucker coming back out and stacking the line of scrimmage forcing the ball to get out early in the passing game and keeping the back behind the line.
