At least one high-profile NBA executive is on the record in agreement with Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James about the fact that the NBA still has “every intention,” to continue the season. San Antonio Spurs CEO and two-time NBA Executive of the Year R.C. Buford told reporters on Thursday that the had just had a call with the NBA, where the league said that they still have every intention to play, according to NBA.com’s Michael C. Wright.
Judging by Buford’s comments, the NBA addressed a report published earlier today by CNBC’s Jabari Young, where it was revealed that some player agents and executives would rather cancel the season. LeBron James forcefully addressed the same notion on Thursday morning, saying that “nobody should be canceling anything.”
Saw some reports about execs and agents wanting to cancel season??? That’s absolutely not true. Nobody I know saying anything like that. As soon as it’s safe we would like to finish our season. I’m ready and our team is ready. Nobody should be canceling anything. 👑

Basically, the NBA remains in a holding pattern. Both the owners and major stakeholders in the Player’s Union, such as LeBron, want there to be some conclusion to the season where there can be a champion crowned. However, there are still a ton of obstacles standing in the league’s way, as well as that of the country at large, before they can even start executing such a plan.
