San Antonio Spurs rookie Blake Wesley suffered a Grade 3 left MCL sprain and is expected to miss an extended period of time, the team announced on Tuesday.
Wesley suffered the injury on Sunday versus the Minnesota Timberwolves when he banged knees with Jaden McDaniels. He was in immediate pain on the court and eventually hobbled to the locker room.
The Spurs did not reveal a timeline for his return, but according to Tom Noie of ND Insider, Wesley suffered an MCL tear and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks. He will likely return at some point in January, based on that timeline.

The injury came in just the second game for Wesley this season. He totaled six points and two rebounds prior to the injury. He debuted on Oct. 28, recording 10 points and four assists in a win over the Chicago Bulls.
The news will certainly be a blow to Wesley and the Spurs. The 25th pick appeared to be off to a good start this season. He will now work toward returning back fully healthy to help the Spurs on the court.
