Advice and prediction
The Grizzlies and Spurs concluded the regular season heading in very different directions. Since March 20th, the Spurs have lost of 23 of 34 games, and ended the season on a four-game losing streak, albeit against very difficult opponents. On March 20th, the Spurs sat in seventh place in the Western Conference and have dropped to 10th, allowing the Grizzlies to jump them and earn home-court for a vital play-in game.
The Spurs opened their season with a 131-119 win over the Grizzlies, but Memphis responded a month later with back-to-back road wins in San Antonio, winning 129-112 and 133-102.
I’m expecting to see more of the same on Wednesday night. The Grizzlies should comfortably take care of a Spurs team in bad form. Take Memphis -4.
I’m also taking the over 222.5. All three Spurs-Grizzlies games this season have comfortably hit the over by a double-digit margin. Yes, this is the playoffs and you’d expect a bit more defensive intensity, but there’s no reason this game should get into the 230s.
