SportsPac12 predicts four-win season for the Buffs

Can the Buffs exceed outside expectations?

The Colorado Buffaloes football program is set to undergo another rough season in 2022. Or, at least, that’s the outside expectation.

The Buffs watched a ton of players leave in the transfer portal, including Mekhi Blackmon and Brenden Rice dashing for the Lincoln Riley-led USC Trojans.

The Buffs also brought in a number of new assistant coaches, with offensive coordinator Mike Sanford and wide receivers coach Phil McGeoghan being the biggest changes on the staff.

All in all, there could be another season of subpar play before the Buffs really kick it into high gear.

Dane Miller of SportsPac12 did a deep dive on what to expect from the Buffs, and Miller predicts Colorado to win just four games:

The confidence gained from securing the starting job is on full display in the opener, as the Buffs upset TCU on Folsom Field….The momentum continues into Week Two with a road victory over Air Force and holds steady into the early part of the Conference season with wins over Arizona and California… The remainder of the year features a string of tough defeats, with the matchups against Arizona State and Washington coming down to the wire.

That seems about right, at least as of June. Sure, a lot can change, and the Buffs could come out and stun the world with some new faces in Boulder, but they definitely face an uphill battle.
