Sporting News names Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese Athletes of the Year

Two of the brightest stars in women’s college basketball, Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese have been named Sporting News Athletes of the Year.

Few athletes are as polarizing as Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. The Iowa Hawkeyes‘ point guard and the LSU Tigers‘ post player are two of the best women’s basketball players in the country and also two of the most recognizable for the impact that they have had on the game.

Their impact has turned the women’s game into must-see TV, which includes the 2023 national championship game that saw the two of them take turns putting on a show.

The immeasurable success the two have had has landed them as the Sporting News Athletes of the Year.

The two of them have wasted no time picking up right where they left off last year. Iowa is currently ranked No. 4 in the AP Top 25 with LSU just behind at No. 7.

Caitlin Clark is chasing down the all-time scoring record and is off to a strong start this year averaging 30.2 points per game (No. 1 in America), 6.8 rebounds, and 7.2 assists (No. 6 in America).

Angel Reese is averaging a double-double to start her year with 19.1 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while shooting 53.9% from the field.
