This summer, there’ll be no dry spell for the Nintendo Switch, as Splatoon 3 is coming out on Sept. 9, 2022.
On Friday, Nintendo revealed nearly four minutes of Splatoon 3’s 4v4 Turf War multiplayer mode alongside the release date information. The footage shows off a new map called Eeltail Alley along with some new weapons. It’s still the same old casual-friendly Splatoon you know and love, but with more features than ever before. Yes, that means more of the Salmon Run PvE rounds are not far off.
Watch the new Splatoon 3 gameplay footage for yourself below. The pace looks a bit faster than previous entries in the series.

Even though the third game is coming soon, Nintendo is also offering Splatoon 2’s Octo Expansion for anyone who signs up for Nintendo Switch Online. If you use the console a lot, it’s worth it since classics like Zelda: Majora’s Mask and Mario Golf regularly go up for free on the service.
The Switch’s current lineup is looking pretty solid. Between Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and Splatoon 3; there certainly won’t be any shortage of great games. Even though it’s too bad that Breath of the Wild 2 won’t be out for another year.
