Spencer Dinwiddie’s GoFundMe letting fans pick his next team off to slow start

Spencer Dinwiddie launched his GoFundMe campaign late Friday and it didn’t gain much traction over the weekend.

Spencer Dinwiddie shocked the basketball world when he launched a GoFundMe campaign that would allow fans to pick where he signs next. If fans meet the goal, he’ll sign a one-year deal with the team of their choosing.

Brooklyn Nets fans have jumped in to try and keep the guard beyond his current contract with the team, but there have also been campaign contributors encouraging him to join the Philadelphia 76ers, Toronto Raptors, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, Portland Trail Blazers and Milwaukee Bucks.

But more contributors will have to get involved if they’re going to have a real say in Dinwiddie’s future. Through the weekend, the campaign raised just over $1,000. The campaign goal is $24,632,600.

Though Dinwiddie made it clear from the jump: this campaign is a long shot. If the goal isn’t reached, he will donate all of the money raised to charity:

I understand the likelihood, or lack thereof, in this experiment.

The campaign is labeled Dinwiddie x BTC x NBA on GoFundMe.
