Spencer Dinwiddie: ‘We’ll never take over the Knicks,’ but Nets are a better basketball team

Spencer Dinwiddie might hear from a few New York Knicks fans after what he had to say at NBA All-Star Weekend 2020.

As part of NBA All-Star Weekend, players in attendance for Sunday’s 2020 All-Star Game or the NBA All-Star Saturday — like Brooklyn’s Spencer Dinwiddie — have a huge session with the media as part of the event.

Players are asked about anything and everything. Of course, with the New York Knicks being in the news for all the wrong reasons so frequently, Nets players are prone to being asked about their crosstown rival.

The subject of the Nets taking over New York was brought up to Dinwiddie on Saturday, per Nets Daily.

As always, the point guard was straightforward with his opinion:

We’ll never take over the Knicks. That’s not going to happen. They’re too entrenched in what it means — Madison Square Garden, Rucker Park, that type of vibe.

Dinwiddie continued, explaining what the Nets have over the Knicks:

But in terms of being a better basketball team, that happened a minute ago. That’s not new. We’re a better basketball team than the Knicks. We were last year. Probably will be next year. It kind of what it is. So I know Knicks fans are going to get mad, but that is the truth.

The Nets will not play the Knicks again in 2019-20. After Brooklyn won the first two games of the season series, the Knicks won the final two.
