The second round of the NBA 2020 Playoffs is set to start soon, but the 2019-20 season ended for the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday with their Game 4 loss to the reigning NBA Champion Toronto Raptors.
While Nets fans might’ve enjoyed a win or two in the first round, they can now look forward to 2020-21 — when Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are expected to take the floor together.
With Brooklyn’s two superstars set to lead the franchise, roles will change for everyone else on the roster, including Spencer Dinwiddie. But the guard has expressed on more than one occasion, he knows the Nets need Durant, Irving and Caris LeVert to thrive in order for Brooklyn to contend for the ultimate goal: an NBA title.
And Dinwiddie continues to stand by his words, explaining on Twitter why the Sixth Man of the Year Award isn’t a priority for him in 2020-21 even though he’s expected to come off the bench next season:
Lol and to all the 6MOY takes. That only happens if KD/Ky/Caris don’t play much. I think we’d all rather the championship than me getting that award. So we can put that to bed now that it’s officially next season.
