Spencer Dinwiddie on loss to OKC: ‘This one’s on me for sure’

Spencer Dinwiddie had chances to deliver the Brooklyn Nets a win at the end of regulation on Tuesday, but he came up short.

Spencer Dinwiddie has been carrying the Brooklyn Nets while they have been without Kyrie Irving — as well as Caris LeVert, until recently. For the majority of the stretch, Dinwiddie delivered. But Brooklyn is in the middle of a dry spell, even with the return of LeVert, who has a minutes restriction.

So it was a bit of a gut punch for the Nets when they couldn’t close things out at Barclays Center on Tuesday and lost 111-103 in overtime to the Oklahoma City Thunder, and Dinwiddie was the one who could’ve sealed the deal.

There was the one free throw he had as a result of an OKC technical foul, which he missed. Then he missed a contested shot in the closing second of the game.

Other plays earlier in the night could’ve altered the course of the game, as well. But the plays at the end of a game always have a feeling of greater importance. So when it came time to take some of the blame, Dinwiddie was ready:

Obviously, the two last shots are very disappointing. ‘Cause we had a chance to win. … That’s extremely disheartening. you know, my teammates trusted me to make those plays and I didn’t. This one’s on me for sure.
