Spencer Dinwiddie named Eastern Conference Player of the Week

For the first time in his NBA career, Spencer Dinwiddie has earned Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors.

For the first time in his career, Spencer Dinwiddie has been named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week. He received the honor for Week 5 of the 2019-20 season, while Luke Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks was named the Western Conference Player of the Week.

In his fourth season in the league, the Californian is averaging 19.6 points, 2.5 boards and 5.1 assists per game this year. With Kyrie Irving sidelined due to a right shoulder impingement, Dinwiddie helped lead the Nets to a 3-1 record over the last week. He logged 25.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 6.8 assists over the stretch, helping him secure the weekly honor.

The Colorado product’s efficient 23-point, 7-assist performance against the Sacramento Kings November 22 and his 30-point outing against the New York Knicks on Sunday, in particular, stand out — the latter tilt bringing Brooklyn’s record back to .500.

So long as Irving is sidelined — he’s expected to be through Brooklyn’s trip to Boston on Wednesday — the team will continue to lean on Dinwiddie to set the tone on offense.
