Spencer Dinwiddie had as weird an offseason as any NBA player this year, seeing his name thrown around in trade rumors as much as anyone — especially amongst Brooklyn Nets players.

While he tried to navigate through this odd period, one thing he says he did not do is ask to be moved.

“Why you ask if I asked for a trade?” Dinwiddie said on a Zoom call with reporters on Friday.

The point guard thought it was “funny” that there was an idea he asked to be moved out of Brooklyn.

Since before the 2019-20 season, Dinwiddie has preached winning a title is all he cares about. With Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving finally healthy, he’s prepared to take a back seat and do whatever’s asked of him going forward.

“I don’t know anybody that takes less than market value to stay on a team that wants to be traded, you know,” Dinwiddie said. “That’d be bad for business. That’d kinda be really dumb.”
