The Dallas Mavericks simply couldn’t hang around with the talented Golden State Warriors squad. The Warriors went up 3-0 and the Mavs responded with a Game 4 victory.
Unfortunately, Game 5 went to the Warriors, and the Mavs head home a few victories short of a trip to the NBA Finals.
Luka Doncic was sensational as always, and newcomer and NBA trade deadline acquisition Spencer Dinwiddie turned out to be a massive addition for Dallas.
Dinwiddie did everything he could in Game 5, finishing with 26 points on 7-12 from the field, including five three-pointers.
Dinwiddie also caught everybody’s attention with an impressive buzzer-beater to end the first quarter.

Dinwiddie finished just two points behind Doncic in Game 5 and played the third-most minutes on the team.
After the game, the former Colorado Buffaloes star raved about the atmosphere in Dallas, perhaps hinting that he definitely wants to stick around for the foreseeable future.
Spencer Dinwiddie, wrapping up his first half-season with Mavs: "It's a blessing to play meaningful basketball and fun basketball with a group of guys that genuinely like being around each other. I've had two very distinct seasons crammed into one."

Dinwiddie’s season was interesting, to say the least. He was a starter with the Washington Wizards, but the Wizards quickly went into sell mode and then dealt Dinwiddie to Dallas, a contender in the Western Conference.
Dinwiddie still has two years left on his contract, and if Dallas can bring in another star to pair with Doncic, the Mavericks have a significant chance of being back in the Western Conference Finals next season and beyond.
