The Arizona Cardinals entered the offseason with most of their core special teams players hitting free agency. They continue to bring back many of them. The latest is safety Charles Washington.
The team announced Thursday he agreed to a one-year deal to return to the team. It will be his third season with the Cardinals.
The 5-foot-10, 192-pound safety was acquired before the 2019 season on a waive claim after he was released by the Detroit Lions. He has played over 200 special teams snaps every one of his four seasons in the league. Last year, he also played 40 snaps on defense, his first playing time on defense since his rookie season in 2017.
Washington was second on the team with 13 special teams tackles and also forced a fumble. He was tied for second on the team in 2019 with seven special teams tackles.
