Spartans receive votes, remain unranked in latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll

MSU basketball once again received votes but remains outside the top 25 in the updated USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll

Michigan State basketball once again received votes but remains outside the top 25 in the updated USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

The updated rankings were released on Monday, with the Spartans receiving 29 votes. That would put Michigan State unofficially at No. 31 in the rankings.

There were a total of five teams from the Big Ten included in this week’s top 25 rankings. That included Purdue (No. 12), Indiana (No. 16), Illinois (No. 20), Ohio State (No. 22) and Rutgers (No. 24). UCLA dropped out of the rankings this week.

Michigan State picked up a pair of wins in the opening week of the season, with both games being blowouts. The Spartans will carry that 2-0 record into Tuesday night’s massive matchup against No. 1 Kansas in the annual Champions Classic event.
