Spartan legacy chooses to spend college career at Michigan

An MSU legacy is going to be playing his college career at Michigan

Shawn Horcoff patrolled the ice at Michigan State from 1996-2000, receiving several major awards, including CCHA Player of the Year and being a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award. Following his time at MSU, Horcoff spent 2000-2016 in the NHL.

Now, working in the Detroit Red Wings front office, Horcoff is living in the metro Detroit area. His son, William, is one of the top prospects in the state, playing for the United States National Development Team.

Unfortunately for Michigan State, the son of a Spartan hockey great is going to be playing down the road for the school’s arch-rival, Michigan. William announced his commitment to the Wolverines this week.
