The top prospect in the state of South Dakota has committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Shawn Hammerbeck is a 6-foot-6, 260-pound offensive lineman for Winner High School in Winner, SD.
Hammerbeck selected the Husker over Kansas State, Minnesota, and Texas Tech. Reports have Nebraska looking at the offensive lineman as a tackle, although he has been identified as a possible defensive lineman.
Nebraska first offered the recruit in the spring and hosted him on an official visit in April. He would then return in June on an official visit before committing to the Cornhuskers on July 3rd.
