Sorry, Broncos fans, Brandin Cooks has been traded to the Texans

The Broncos won’t be trading for wide receiver Brandin Cooks.

The Broncos won’t be trading for Brandin Cooks, despite many fans on Twitter urging the team to do so in recent weeks.

The Rams agreed to trade Cooks to the Texans on Thursday evening, ending any speculation of him possibly landing in Denver.

Cooks (5-10, 183 pounds) was selected by the Saints in the first round of the 2014 NFL draft out of Oregon State. He was traded to the Patriots in 2017 and New England later traded him to the Rams.

After trading Demaryius Thomas to the Texans in 2018 and trading Emmanuel Sanders to the 49ers in 2019, Denver needs to give quarterback Drew Lock more weapons to throw to — some fans were hoping Cooks would be added to the mix.

A 26-year-old speedy deep threat, Cooks has totaled 5,730 receiving yards and 36 touchdowns in six seasons.

Courtland Sutton had a breakout season last year and made the Pro Bowl but Denver will want to have at least two quality wide receivers.

The Broncos have the 15th overall pick in this year’s NFL draft and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the team use that pick on a receiver.
