Sooners Wire staff predictions for Oklahoma vs. Auburn Tigers

Who did our staff at Sooners Wire predict to win in Oklahoma’s week five matchup with the Auburn Tigers?

Much has changed at Oklahoma over the last week. After the win over Tulane, there were signs that the offense might be heading in the right direction. There was confidence that the Sooners defense could befuddle Nico Iamaleava in his first road start last week. This week, there has been talk of hot seats, offensive coordinator changes and a new QB running the Sooners.

The only thing that came to fruition was Oklahoma’s defense playing well. Jackson Arnold was benched for Michael Hawkins Jr., and the true freshman is set to make his first start on the road against Auburn.

Talent isn’t the issue for the Oklahoma legacy, but watching how he handles crowd noise in a place notorious for being difficult to play in will be fascinating.

I believe in this defense in the way many used to believe in the offenses led by Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray. So much so that I think it will do enough to win against whoever Auburn rolls out at quarterback.

The Sooners win a rock fight inside Jordan-Hare ahead of their first bye week of the season.

The Sooners’ defense forces two turnovers, and Hawkins throws a touchdown and runs for another as Oklahoma gets its first conference win.

Oklahoma 20, Auburn 17
