Sooners land in Top 4 for 2024 offensive tackle Garrett Sexton

Garrett Sexton, a three-star offensive tackle prospect, included Oklahoma in his top four and announced a commitment date of May 1st.

The recruiting trail is matching the change in the season. It’s warming up as spring takes full effect, and so are the Oklahoma Sooners in the 2024 [autotag]recruiting cycle[/autotag]. This is the time in the 2024 cycle when prospects will begin to narrow their focus on a select group of schools.

The summer and fall will likely see a slew of commitments so those prospects can enjoy their final seasons of high school football without their recruitment hanging over their head.

That seems precisely the case for three-star offensive tackle Garrett Sexton out of Hartland, Wisconsin.

The 6-foot-7 lineman is a large young man with blocking prowess to boot. He’s got the frame to add plenty of good weight and still has the athleticism to be a force on the outside.

Sexton has one of the most perplexing position changes you’ll ever see. Sexton went from playing quarterback in the summer of 2022 to his team’s starting offensive tackle and has earned numerous Power Five offers in just one season. If anything, it speaks to his athletic profile. He also roams the paint on the hardwood as a center for his basketball team.

Sexton received an offer from the Sooners in March, and while he hasn’t visited yet, he plans to visit Norman in the coming weeks.

Even without a visit, Sexton feels good enough about Oklahoma to include the Sooners in his top four.

Sexton plans to announce his commitment on May 1, and the Sooners join a group that includes Penn State, Iowa, and Minnesota. He has already visited Iowa and Penn State and will also visit Minnesota on top of his visit to Oklahoma.

With this recruitment winding down, Oklahoma has less than a month and an unofficial visit to vault itself to the front of the line.
