Sony unveils Hogwarts Legacy DualSense and it’s already sold out

Sony revealed a special-edition Hogwarts Legacy DualSense controller for the PlayStation 5, and as you’d expect, availability didn’t last long. Sony unveiled the controller early on Feb. 10, 2023, and opened pre-orders ahead of the DualSense’s launch in the U.S. on Feb. 28, 2023.

Within hours, stock was already gone, and scalpers were posting listings on social media and reseller sites.

The Hogwarts Legacy DualSense controller is black with heavy gold lines wrapping around the grips in waves. On the touchpad is a stylized version of Hogwarts itself, and the game’s name is on the back of the controller, presumably in case you forget what you bought at some point.

Outside of the design, it’s the same DualSense, which the game, admittedly, doesn’t make much use of anyway. The retail price should be the same as any other DualSense – $79.99 – so bear that in mind if you see it pop up on eBay or somewhere similar for eye-wateringly high prices.

The controller is a limited-time offer, so it’s unclear whether Sony will restock before launch or have more available at a later date. If you’re very keen, and slightly reckless with your possessions, you could always get a black DualSense and make your own Hogwarts design with glittery gold paint.
