Given the Los Angeles Rams connection between Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor and a defensive coordinator by the name of Wade Phillips, it was only a matter of time before the world started linking the two together.
Phillips left the Rams early this week to a bit of fanfare, as coordinators with his experience don’t hit the market often.
We broke down in-depth why Taylor would be wise to bring aboard a guy he’s well familiar with after their time together in Los Angeles. Besides the name and defensive performance he generally brings, Phillips would be one of the most experienced names on a coaching staff that struggled with inexperience this past season.
Bengals fans and plenty others offered early support for the idea on social media:
The @Bengals should look at wade Phillipsđź‘€

I really don’t know what to think about Lou Anarumo because the defense sucked but it was largely personnel. But the @Bengals couldn’t be hurt by going after Wade Phillips for DC

@Bengals omg, you MUST hire Wade Phillips as defensive coordinator. He's top 3 DC in last 20 years. He will turn Bengals defense into at least middle pack defense #NFL
