SoFi Stadium construction resumes after worker dies from 110-foot fall

Construction on SoFi Stadium was temporarily halted after a worker fell to his death Friday.

Last week, a construction worker on the site of SoFi Stadium in Inglewood died after falling from the roof of the building. Work on the stadium was temporarily halted, but on Monday, it resumed – two days after the worker’s death.

The Los Angeles Times has reported that the worker was 37-year-old Juan Becerra of Brownsville, Texas. He was identified by the Los Angeles County coroner.

It was initially estimated that Becerra fell 50 to 60 feet, but the L.A. Times is reporting that it was from about 110 feet in the southeast corner of the stadium. He was pronounced dead by paramedics at 11:10 a.m. on Friday morning.

Becerra’s death is still being investigated by the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health.

SoFi Stadium is set to open on Aug. 14 for a preseason game between the Rams and Saints. The building will be home to both the Rams and Chargers after the teams moved back to Los Angeles a few years ago.
