The Oklahoma Sooners moved to 12-1 in Big 12 play and 18-6 on the season. They’ve won nine in a row after beating the Baylor Bears 84-73 on Wednesday night.
It’s been as dramatic a turnaround as we’ve seen around here. Just before Big 12 play began, the Oklahoma Sooners lost to the Southern Jaguars out of the SWAC.
They’ve been a completely different team since that upset loss and have ascended to lead the Big 12 now by two games after Kansas State’s loss to Iowa State.
With the depth they’re playing with, [autotag]Jennie Baranczyk[/autotag] has a squad that could be set for a deep run. In their two previous tournament appearances, the Sooners were unable to advance out of the round of 32. But with the way they’re playing, they might be able to earn a top four seed and host the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament.
There are five games to go and the Big 12 tournament, but Oklahoma’s positioned itself well to make a deep run into March.
In the win over Baylor, five Oklahoma Sooners scored in double-figures, led by a career-high 20 points from [autotag]Kiersten Johnson[/autotag]. [autotag]Payton Verhulst[/autotag] stayed hot, filling up the box score with 16 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, and five blocks and a steal.
It was a strong win over a Baylor team that was ranked higher in the latest polls and here’s how social media reacted.
