The 2022 NFL draft cycle continued its push to April with the Senior Bowl this week. The Oklahoma Sooners were well represented in Mobile, Alabama, but no player helped his draft stock more than Perrion Winfrey.
Winfrey earned game MVP honors with two sacks and three tackles for loss after a dominant week of practices. The Sooners defensive lineman regularly won matchups against the top senior offensive linemen in the draft and positioned himself to skyrocket up draft boards over the next couple of months.
Winfrey has regularly been mocked in the late second round and as high as the late-40s. But with a performance that trended on Twitter yesterday, draft analysts will be forced to take a second look at the talented defensive line prospect. A move to the end of the first round or the top of the second isn’t out of the question. With pro days, private workouts and the NFL scouting combine ahead, Winfrey has more opportunities to make noise ahead of the 2022 NFL draft.
As we continue to follow Winfrey’s draft journey, let’s take a look at how social media responded to his impressive week in Mobile that led to MVP honors in Saturday’s Senior Bowl.
