It was reported this week by Shams Charania that former UCLA Bruin Jaime Jaquez Jr. will compete in the 2024 Slam Dunk Contest.
Jaquez Jr., who has become an overnight sensation in the NBA playing for the Miami Heat this season, is slated to faceoff against Jaylen Brown, Mac McClung, and Jacob Toppin. Understandably, social media is buzzing.
Jaquez Jr. is the first UCLA Bruin to compete in the dunk contest since Zach Levine in 2016. And should Jaquez Jr. deliver in the competition and best his opponents, he would be the first Bruin to win it since Levine in the same year.
Here is what social media had to say about the news.
