Brad Brownell and the Clemson men’s basketball team got excellent news Wednesday as star guard Chase Hunter announced his return for one more season with the program.
Things couldn’t have gone better for the Tigers here, returning a player who may be the best player on the team next season. Brownell was hopeful Hunter would return, discussing the decision Hunter had to make earlier this month.
“He worked out for an NBA team this week,” Brownell said back on May 9. “I’m excited for him to be able to do some of those things. I was so happy to watch him play at the level that he did in the NCAA Tournament. He was tremendous.”
During the regular season, he averaged 13.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 0.5 steals per game, while adding in 0.3 blocks per game. Hunter was a standout in the Tigers’ Elite 8 run, making clutch plays and, at times, carrying Clemson’s offensive attack.
