North Carolina’s 2024-25 basketball schedule is slowly coming together and on Wednesday, another piece to the puzzle was added. The Tar Heels are set to host the Alabama Crimson Tide on December 4th as part of the ACC-SEC challenge.

It’s the second year of this new challenge and the second time the Tar Heels have hosted a game in it after beating Tennessee at home last season. But this matchup may mean a little more for Hubert Davis and his team.

Alabama ended UNC’s season in the Sweet 16, beating the No. 1 seed out West. The Crimson Tide rode that momentum all the way to the Final Four before falling to eventual champion UConn.

While UNC loses key players like Armando Bacot, Cormac Ryan and Harrison Ingram, the Crimson Tide return three of their top five scorers and added a good recruiting class and good transfer class. This should be the best team Nate Oats has had at Alabama and could be the preseason No. 1 team.

Let’s see how social media reacted to the announcement of this game.
